About the company Founded in 2013 in the Philippines, Liter of Light is a global, grassroots movement committed to providing affordable, sustainable solar light to people with limited or no access to electricity. It empowers women’s cooperatives and volunteers in over 30 countries to manufacture, install and maintain solar lighting systems. The open‑source approach fosters local entrepreneurship, reduces reliance on kerosene, and has illuminated over one million lives annually while advancing green jobs and climate action. Liter of Light’s open source technology has been recognized by the UN and adopted for use in some UNHCR camps.
