About the company Marugohan was incorporated in 2002 and has pioneered food banking in Japan. Since 2002, they have delivered more than 21,000 tons of food, the equivalent of more than 90 million meals. Each time a recipient receives assistance through the food safety-net they make a pledge to give back to society through some action. Marugohan (meaning circle + rice) creates a circle of receiving food and then giving back to society. “Giving back” (ongaeshi) is a deep value in Japan.
